Day 842 - Renewal

We all love a good moan about the day job sometimes.

No doubt, you will occasionally use those laments to co-brood with the colleagues you want to keep on side. You say and do things to signal the camaraderie of forcing your collective way through something you have to do but would rather not.

Later that day, you won’t be surprised at how your own eyes stare through you when you glance in a mirror, wondering why you allowed that masked version of yourself to show face.

The things you think you have to do sink like and anchor to the sea bed. What you supposedly have to do keeps the ship afloat but never sailing.

To release yourself from slow scrapes along the ocean floor, throw “have to” overboard. Pull up “get to” from the depths and see where your adventures might then take you.

When you stop for a moment to consider the ridiculous fact that you’re strapped to a random rock hurtling around a fire ball, you can replace the self-inflicted pain of having to do something with the privilege of what you get to do.

Consider how to reframe the things you think you have to do as the privilege of what you get to do…
