Day 594 - The Two Sides of Travel

The delights of travel come with some dangers. The wanderlust wears a price tag. As time passes, your appreciation for the grains of falling sand grows.

For the first time since the grounded COVID days, I found myself on the road for more than an afternoon. I had gone from one to two kids since last having to balance the joy of travel opportunity with the pain of what it might cost.

There is no free lunch. In family life, there are no career days away without little hands crafting the art that signals their wish for where they’d rather you be. The silver lining lies in the enhanced ability to politely say 'no' more often now than when I started out.

From an entrepreneurial perspective, when you are making a deal to give the fullness of your time and effort to someone else, other than those under your own roof, such tensions can help you cost that time more appropriately.

Consider how much your time is worth when you say ‘yes’ to taking that time away from those you care most about.
